Why volunteer?

"I don't have the time to volunteer", a common problem of which we all suffer. Alongside the intense amount of essays, exams, reading, social commitments, lectures and now the Lacrosse team, it may seem as though volunteering is simply out of the question. But this is not the case.

As a student myself I understand that it is hard to juggle everything, which is why all the fundraising events that I propose we get involved in will be suited to the university lifestyle. I have signed us up to one-off events with the Vteam, exciting and hopefully enjoyable fundraisers that you will want to get involved in rather than feel as though you have too, and what is more your angelic like presence will not go unrewarded!

The 'Vteam passports' at the University of Essex means that your hard work will be recognised and logged. All the hours that you spend helping me sell cakes at a cake stall, coaching students at a local school and one off projects with the Vteam will be signed off by me on your passport and can count as hours towards other incentives such as 'The Big E Award' and so forth.

This is not to say I don't expect you to be volunteering and fundraising for our fantastic charity out of the goodness of your own heart. But considering you are involved in the already crazy university experience, it is ok to want something to show for your efforts. As we are all regularly warned it is tough to get a job and all of these extra curricular activities and volunteering will look great on your CV, and providing that you have participated in enough events and approach me first, I would be happy to be put down as a reference should you need it.

Accreditation:
Internal aaccreditation offered by the Students union and the University is offered to volunteers who make the following commitment in one academic year:
10-49 hours. Achievement in volunteering.
50-99 hours. Excellence in volunteering.
100+ hours. Outstanding contribution to volunteering.

We have already proved our clubs potential by winning 'Club of the Year 2012-13', think what we can achieve this time around!
