Bonfire Night, November 2, 2013.

Helping with Langham Parish's Bonfire event.
Today eight lacrosse volunteers and myself helped run the stalls for Langham Parish's Bonfire Night.

The profits from every stall is intended to buy a defibrillator machine for the Parish, and other necessities.

Thank you so much too all my volunteers today, you did a fantastic job despite the cold weather. It was lovely working with the Parish again, and a big thank you to Jodie Goldsmith for driving the SU bus for us.

Also we just reciieved a few very kind words from David Winter, one of the organisers:
''When about 15 turned up on Saturday 26th October, was this the lacrosse team, I was amazed! I was worried that there might not be enough to keep them all busy. I need not have worried! It is true to say that the volunteers from Essex University far exceeded our expectations. Everyone involved with them said what a marvellous group of workers they were. They arrived on time, and despite occasionally there being very poor weather conditions, they got straight into doing the work. They were unfailingly cheerful, had a lot of common sense and showed great initiative in getting on with the job. Perhaps we should have expected that from students at university. With their help, this was one of the best run bonfire nights of recent years. We really hope you or similar volunteers from Essex University will get involved next year, and we thank you for everything that you did for us. At the last parish council meeting, there was the suggestion that it might be nice for your volunteers to be even more involved next year''
