Abseil Stroke association 26/01/14

Today (26/01/2014)  myself and eight volunteers helped the Stroke association with their Abseil fundraiser.

The stroke association hosted an all day event allowing people to fundraise in order to abseil down the Colchester Town hall. For more details please visit: fundraisers.http://www.stroke.org.uk/event/shop-drop-january-abseil

Whilst assisting the many fundraiser as they underwent their abseil, I heard many touching stories regarding the Stroke association. One of note is that of a stroke victim herself who raised a massive £900 for the charity as a thank you. She told me that she felt indebted to the organisation. Prior to her unexpected stroke her husband had seen the televised advert for what one should do if you are witness to someone having a stroke and how to be sure it is one. She proclaimed that it was the fact that her husband had seen the advert that allowed her to stand before me today.

It is stories like hers that make volunteering for the stroke society worthwhile.

I would like to say a massive thank you to my volunteers who persevered throughout the terrible weather today.

As usual we have been working with the stroke society and they have raised an enormous amount of money today for a very very good cause!

Thank you to the lacrosse members who couldn't make it but still gave up their time to come and support!
